Mayor, Sandra S. Bigler
Sandra Bigler won the November 7, 2017, General Election for Mayor. This is not a new undertaking for Ms. Bigler, she previously held said office from 2009-2013.
Sandra was born in the Madsen Hospital on Main Street in Mount Pleasant and has lived in Mount Pleasant for her entire life with the exception of 1 year spent in Salt Lake City. She married John Bigler, now deceased. They were married over 50 years. She is a graduate of North Sanpete High School class of 1963.
John & Sandra were self-employed throughout our whole married life. They ran a tire business and in 1976 and built Big Pine Sports in Fairview, Utah, which we later sold in 1989. They had an agriculture business in Indianola raising alfalfa and livestock. The farm has been in the Bigler name for over 100 years. She also worked for H&R Block for 11 years preparing taxes.
In 1995 Sandra ran for a seat with the Mount Pleasant City Council and was delighted to be elected. She served on the council from 1995 until May 2009, in which she was appointed Mayor to fill the 6 month term of Chesley Christensen upon his untimely death. In November of 2009 Sandra ran for Mayor of Mount Pleasant and was elected to a four year term, which she completed in 2013. Among her other duties with the city, in 2004 she was given the position of Sexton of the Mount Pleasant City Cemetery.
